Look around your yard, drive through the country and ask yourself where did the 'birds' go. I noticed that none of the robins who loved to get worms out of the soil after I sprinkled or it rained, are for the most part gone. Most of them have already migrated south. Usually I notice that they disappear around the middle of August. They probably left about 10 days early just like the growing season is about 10 days early.

The red winged blackbirds have almost all left for the southern countryside.  They are no longer darting in and out of the willows and cat-tails along the road. They too left a little early.

Recently, I read a article about the blue birds and how they are slowly disappearing. We are slowly destroying their habitat. I used to have blue birds come and build their nest in a bird house in my garden. They lived in the bird house until two years ago. I thought it was because a neighborhood cat would sit on the ground just looking at the bird house and drooling. I would chase the cat out of my yard sometimes three or four times a day.  Of course the cat would always do his/her thing in the freshly dug dirt where I was working. I bought some gloves with leather palms because I was tired of getting my hands all 'yucked' for lack of a better word. But that is a totally different story.

I am going to read that article again and will hopefully report how to get them back. We are slowly destroying the habitat for many birds and animals.  The same thing is happening in Africa, South Central America and many other countries. The list is getting longer all the time. I think we call it suburban spreading. If any of you readers have any information, please share it with us.
