Be sure to vote Tuesday; Tulip Time means half days for Zeeland schools

Submitted by jcamenga on Fri, 05/02/2008 - 11:22am.

On May 6, the Zeeland Board of Education is seeking a one-year renewal of the 18-mill tax levy on industrial and commercial property, resorts and second homes. The levy is required under Proposal A.

"This is a simple renewal vote, not an increase, but it is a vital piece needed for the daily operation or our schools," Business Manager Dave Van Ginhoven said. "Without this levy, the district would lose $7,548,983 in funds needed for running our schools. This fund helps pay for a wide variety of necessities, from books and bus fuel to staff salaries and heating bills."
