Everyone of us needs a job for the reason that I don't know. We want to have some money, climb the ladder of success and tell everyone how great we are because of our achievement. I believe that we deserve to be noticed and we deserve equality. But the world is not like that. People who do better than us are those who are being noticed and paid higher.

Michigan Works Summer Youth

The Michigan Works Summer Youth Employment Program is a 2009 summer effort through the American Recov-ery Reinvestment Act to employ qualified youths ages 14 – 24. The federal grant received by all Michigan Works agencies in Michigan provides the wages for the working youths.

Michigan Works Summer Youth Employment Program

Esmeralda Hernandez, 18 of Holland would have been home today sleeping or cleaning the house. In-stead she is working at the Greater Ottawa County United Way as an Administrative Assistant for the summer.

Ms. Hernandez is a participant in the Ottawa County Michigan Works Summer Youth Program, and is placed at the Greater Ottawa County United Way office on Clover Street in Holland.

Ottawa County Michigan Works and Grand Rapids Community College Training Partnership – Will Provide New Economy Workers

Ottawa County Michigan Works and Grand Rapids Community College will create a training partnership supporting MEGA Funding recipients, Energetx Composites of Holland, and Integrated Fabric Resource of Zeeland.

Grand Rapids Community College is developing training programs for both Energetx Composites and Integrated Fabric Resource as they begin ramping up production, and in the case of Energetx Composites, moving into a different market.

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holland will host the Michigan Works Youth Program event, Focus Youth Conference. The conference will be held Thursday, June 11 from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

The Focus Youth Conference is open for registration to youths only – ages 14 – 21.
